This week, the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) faced a tough situation in its examination cycle. More than 1.5 lakh students were given exams every day at 183 centres and 311 labs. However, several candidates had issues at various centres, from technical issues to basic facility problems.

The SSC has now acted quickly, assuring improved conditions and making stern measures to ensure that students are able to take exams without any stress, as reported by India Today.

One of the most severe cases occurred at an examination centre in Delhi, where students were kept waiting outside and were prohibited from entering on schedule. The SSC investigated the issue and determined that a third-party contractor was the one who handled the situation poorly. Consequently, the Commission has blacklisted the centre and resolved that it would not be utilized for any upcoming exams.

Poor quality pens given at some centres was another issue quoted by candidates. Students complained that such pens malfunctioned during the middle of the test and interrupted the flow of writing. The SSC countered by providing branded, high-quality pens at all centres, ensuring that the same issue would not haunt the candidates again.

A few centres had their own technical problems too. Candidates lodged grievances about slow login, dysfunctional mouses, and software glitches during the test. The Commission sent specialist technical teams to these centres immediately. SSC states that the systems in all key urban areas have been repaired and are functioning correctly again.

There were further delays in seating arrangements as a result of slow biometric verification. This delayed students’ entry into the exam halls for a longer period. In order to address this, the SSC has added more manpower at entry points so that identity checks and seating procedures can be done faster and more easily.

A few students also complained of poor washroom facilities and unavailability of drinking water at some centres. To address these, SSC has launched new stern guidelines to be adhered to by all centres. Clean bathrooms, safe drinking water, and minimum hygiene will now be compulsory for all exam centres.

A new system that was added this year is Aadhaar-linked entry. This has been done to enhance the verification of identity and ensure it is a more secure process. There were a few delays on the first day, but the system has been stabilized and is now running smoothly.

The SSC claims that it is seriously considering every complaint. The spokesperson of the Commission said, “We are listening. Real issues are being met with real action. Our priority is to ensure a fair, transparent, and disruption-free exam process for every aspirant.”

The Commission also appealed to the candidates and the public at large not to believe in rumors or fake messages on social media. It urged everyone to only depend on authentic updates from SSC.
